Admininstrative Assistant I

The Administrative Assistant performs confidential secretarial and administrative duties; schedules and arranges appointments, compiles data and maintains records, and provides excellent customer service for students, families, faculty, staff, and community members. Supports events and initiatives in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Student Affairs divisions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides administrative support for the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) and Dean of Students, the Student Affairs director team, and the Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer.
  • Greets and accommodates visitors and answers the phone, providing information, general assistance and customer service to students, parents, and others.
  • Performs confidential administrative and secretarial duties, including but not limited to data entry, taking minutes, and editing and creating correspondence, agendas, and reports.
  • Assists with the hiring, training, and supervision of student assistants; submits and reviews student time sheets, employee action forms and other paperwork for HR functions.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of campus events Manages and purchases office supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinates awards for the annual Honors Convocation in collaboration with Provost’s office.
  • Assists in the maintenance and revision of the Student Handbook, Student Affairs website, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion website, and other documents and publications.
  • Enters data into the Banner campus information system and runs reports using Microsoft Access.
  • Maintains confidential records and files, including but not limited to student conduct and Title IX files, and serves as support person to the Conduct Review Committee and the Title IX hearing process.
  • Processes and tracks financial information; processes and reviews credit card statements, check requests and invoices.
  • Schedules appointments and maintains calendar information for the VPSA and Dean of Students and the Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer.
  • Compiles information for the weekly What’s Happening e-newsletter, maintains up-to-date event lists in Engage, and collaborates with the Marketing and
  • Communication team to publicize events and announcements via email and social media.
  • Generates Passport Points codes for campus events
  • Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary

Assistant Athletic Trainer

The Assistant Athletics Trainer reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreation/Director of Sports Medicine is responsible for the following:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervision and administration of all sports medicine operations for varsity and competitive club sport student-athletes
  • Assigned sport specific responsibilities by Director of Sports Medicine/Head Athletic Trainer
  • Prepare and maintain accurate and up to date medical records for student-athletes and monitor insurance coverage
  • Educate prospective students, student-athletes, coaches, staff and others in preventative injury maintenance
  • Evaluation and treatment of injuries and injury rehabilitation
  • Continuous improvement to the institution’s concussion management program for new and returning student-athletes
  • Budget management and organization
  • Coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for practice and home & away competitions
  • Serve as a liaison to doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation
  • Committing to College, Department of Athletics and Recreation and NCAA rules and regulations.

As an institutional staff member actively involved with NCAA Division III prospects, student- athletes, and athletic department personnel, you are responsible to uphold all conference and NCAA rules and regulations. In accordance with NCAA bylaw 11.1, you are responsible to report any known violations and will be held accountable for any violations committed within your department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current NATABOC certification
  • Eligible for athletic training licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.
  • CPR / AED certified
  • Experience in an intercollegiate athletics setting.
  • Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse group of people, in intense or emergency medical situations.
  • Must be able to meet continuing education requirements as mandated.
  • Must be able to satisfy the athletic event schedule for travel and work on weekends and evenings.

PREFERRED

  • Master’s Degree
  • 2-4 years related and progressive experience in an intercollegiate athletics athletic training department or a sports medicine clinic.
  • American Red Cross Instructor Certified for the Professional Rescuer.

Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications coordinates information management and media production for all NCAA Division III sports. The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications reports to the Director of Athletics and Recreation, supervised by the Assistant AD for Strategic Communications and is responsible for all strategic communications including media relations, public relations, and digital media for the Centenary Department of Athletics and its 18 NCAA-sponsored sports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with developing content for and executing the department's strategic digital communications and social media plans
  • Maintain branding and visual standards pertaining to the creation of graphics, photography, and video projects for content creation/branding on digital and social platforms
  • Create engaging content for the GoCentenary.com athletics website
  • Promote assigned sports and general athletics events through all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Lead the coordination and training of student-workers and game day staff
  • Assist and oversee live stream events, video projects, and photo shoots
  • Work closely with other departments (marketing/PR, operations) in developing an overall content strategy for each sports program

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working in intercollegiate athletics OR communications
  • Computer skills include superior proficiency in MS Office Suite, graphic design software (Adobe InDesign strongly preferred), photo/video editing software.
  • Working knowledge or ability to become proficient quickly with various statistical software programs.
  • Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays; willing and able to travel occasionally.
  • Experience producing original written content in a news or related setting.
  • Must be able to work in a self-directed manner through the use of strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to fulfill job requirements in a high-energy, high-traffic area.

PREFERRED

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, or Sports Administration.
  • Familiarity or experience with advanced graphic design and photo editing software.
  • Experience with social media outreach and multi-media (video/audio editing).
  • 2-5 years experience working in a collegiate sports information office.

Assistant Director of Student Involvement

The Assistant Director of Student Involvement supports the overall educational experience of Centenary's students by providing direct support for the College's activities in Student Involvement and serving as the coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Life.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate the student organization system and the Student Organization Resource Room, providing training materials for student organizations and advisors and managing student organization rosters and registration in Engage.
  • Direct the maintenance and utilization of the Engage online platform by students, organizational advisors, and student organizations, providing educational outreach and training regarding this platform.
  • Advise the Greek governing councils and the Order of Omega
  • Serve as our campus hazing compliance officer, tracking anti-hazing education for all campus student groups and organizations and ensuring compliance with state and national laws.
  • Assist with the New Student Experience (SOAR and Orientation)
  • Assist with the Centenary Activities Board
  • Assist with the hiring, management, and training of the student worker staff, and work collaboratively with the Student Involvement team to schedule and train Student Development student workers.
  • Mentor students and contributing to the development of student leaders.
  • Be accessible and reachable by telephone or text message at times other than College business hours for the purpose of emergencies after hours and on weekends.
  • Other related administrative functions, projects, duties, and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

Assistant Professor of Geology

Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for a tenure-track position of Instructor or Assistant Professor in the Geology Department beginning August 2025. Rank is dependent upon earned degrees. We are seeking candidates who are interested in teaching geology in a liberal arts environment and involving undergraduate students in research experiences. Candidates holding a Master’s degree or terminal degree, including ABD, are encouraged to apply. The teaching responsibilities will depend on the background of the successful candidate but should involve some subset of Physical Geology, Environmental Geology, Historical Geology, and Sedimentary Geology; a special topics course in the successful candidate’s field of interest is also a possibility. Assistant Professor of American Politics

Centenary College of Louisiana invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Political Science to begin August 2025. Candidates should be broadly trained in American Politics and Government and prepared to teach a range of introductory and upper division courses.

Applicants must have a terminal degree in Political Science or a related field, demonstrated strength or a commitment to excellence in teaching, and a willingness to mentor undergraduate students in research. We seek candidates whose research, teaching and/or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse audiences in higher education, and particularly in the field of political science.

Candidates must also be prepared to advise the department’s legal studies minor. The legal studies minor is an interdisciplinary course of study that exposes students to a range of courses that strengthen their critical thinking and communication skills, hone their ability to interpret and apply case law, and understand the role and effect of law within various societal contexts. Candidates must be able to teach in a guided-inquiry, studio-format introductory biology course, as well as offer courses in Anatomy and Physiology. Ideally candidates would also be able to offer courses in Nutrition and will have opportunities to develop upper-level courses in topics related to biology/kinesiology. Chaplain and Director of the Christian Leadership Center

The Chaplain and Director of the Christian Leadership Center serves as a missionally central member of the college staff and Student Affairs division, and will oversee religious life, minister to campus constituents, and manage the area of Christian Leadership, contributing to the overall strategic direction and leadership of the department and division.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leads and manages the Christian Leadership Center (CLC), the Pathways endorsement program, and related activities.
  • Serves as one of the primary liaisons between the College and the United Methodist Church and the GBHEM, including representing the College through church-related forums and by attending events including, but not limited to, campus visit days, summer orientation programs, and the Louisiana Annual Conference. Maintains robust outreach to local churches.
  • Serves as the Instructor for REL 200 (CLC Colloquium), TREK 151 (CLC Service-Learning), and TREK 250 (CLC Career Exploration), providing academic support, professional development mentoring, guidance and instruction to Centenary College students in an intellectually rigorous but developmentally supportive environment. May teach other courses dependent on qualifications, interests, and time available.
  • Collaborates with Student Affairs colleagues and other staff members on areas of common programming and income assistance resources for students including a food bank partnership.
  • Provides ongoing opportunities for on-campus worship and interfaith activities. Offers invocations and serves as needed at campus events including but not limited to monthly faculty meetings, convocations, and commencement.
  • Plans the annual Christmas Candlelight program and Easter Sunrise Service in collaboration with the Centenary College Choir director, Camarata director, and the President’s Office.
  • Maintains and implements campus policies regarding outside religious organizations and provides support to outside campus ministry representatives for organizations such as Catholic Campus Ministries, Canterbury House, Baptist Collegiate Ministry, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Collaborates with Student Involvement to approve, advise,
    strengthen and manage student organizations that support spiritual and religious life, communiity and expression.
  • Oversees Christian Leadership student internships and Temenos small groups and maintains relationships with internship site mentors and small group volunteer leaders.
  • In cooperation with the Admissions Office, plans and implements a recruitment plan for prospective students, provides coordination in Christian Leadership Center recruitment in churches and faith-based organizations, and conducts interviews with prospective CLC students and exit interviews with CLC departing students.
  • Participates in campus committees and serves on the President’s Extended Cabinet. Collaborates with other staff to seek and manage grants. Completes other related projects, duties, and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
  • Provides one-on-one pastoral care, counseling and referrals upon request; and serves as a confidential Title IX resource.

Department Assistant - Education

Director of Alumni and Family Relations

The Director of Alumni and Family Relations develops and maintains relationships with alumni and the families of current students for the purpose of conducting alumni special events and programs, engaging alumni and families in the life of the College, and connecting alumni to current students.  The Director cultivates various volunteer constituencies, such as the national alumni council, alumni chapters, homecoming volunteers, and event and reunion hosts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manages the alumni association, alumni ambassador program, and the geographic and affinity chapters and the benefits that are provided to its membership.
  • Works with the Office of Career Development and Internships to plan events and implement programs that connect alumni with students for the purposes of career networking, mentoring, and potential internship or employment opportunities.
  • Plans and implements Homecoming/Parents & Family Weekend each year which includes, but is not limited to working with reunion groups based on affinity networks and class years as well as honoring alumni & friends annually at an Alumni Awards Banquet included in the weekend.
  • Plans and executes Beast Feast, the College’s primary alumni fundraising event
  • Works with affinity groups to engage them in the life of the College.
  • Works with the Office of Admission to maintain an active Legacy program, to engage alumni and parents in the recruitment of new students and to encourage alumni to refer qualified applicants to Centenary.
  • Works with the Department of Marketing and Communication to inform and recognize alumni on a regular basis.
  • Maintains the alumni and parent relations websites to ensure all information is current and relevant.
  • Develops, manages, and coordinates various special events such as parties, dinners, and receptions both locally and out-of-town.

Director of Counseling Services and Health Information

The Director of Counseling Services and Health Information provides direct counseling services to students through short-term individual and group solution focused counseling and special programs. Supervises counseling and health information staff and directs the Department of Counseling Services and Health Information. Counseling and health information services are provided to Centenary students without cost and are not billed to insurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees the functional areas of counseling, health information, and student wellness support, ensuring alignment with campus health and wellness goals.
  • Provides individual counseling to students to address psychological, personal, social, academic, and related needs, and refers students to community services when appropriate.
  • Supervises the Health and Counseling Services Coordinator, providing guidance and support for the management of immunization records, insurance assistance, and educational outreach.
  • Recruits, selects, and supervises undergraduate student office assistants and one or more masters level interns.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and external agencies on matters concerning student psychological health, assessments, and support needs.
  • Develops tailored strategies to assist students experiencing personal challenges or psychological issues. Trains students and staff in peer counseling and referral skills.
  • Coordinates referrals for psychological and vocational assessments with community providers, interprets test results, and makes recommendations as needed. Builds and sustains cooperative
    relationships with community mental health agencies and organizations.
  • Prepares reports and does ongoing assessment and analysis of counseling and health information activities, including progress, recommendations, and insights.
  • Consults with the Disability Services Coordinator on reasonable accommodations, including Emotional Support Animals and other FHA and ADA-related needs.
  • Manages the departmental budget, ensuring resources align with counseling objectives.
  • Maintains counseling and administrative records.
  • Assesses student psychological health in emergency situations and recommends support options.
  • Performs other relevant duties and projects as assigned.

Head Men's and Women's Swim Coach

The Head Men and Women;s Swim Coach will direct and coordinate the planning, organizing and coaching of the varsity Men’s and Women’s Swimming program and maintain the aquatic facility at Centenary College.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
COACHING DUTIES:

  • Recruits student-athletes in accordance with Centenary College and NCAA policy guidelines.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the personal and athletics development of student athletes at Centenary College.
  • Arranges and organizes yearly competition schedules.
  • Schedules, organizes, and supervises practices in compliance with College and NCAA rules.
  • Ensures that athletic venue is properly set-up for practices and official athletic competition.
  • Counsel team members in academic, disciplinary and personal matters; consult with College administration and faculty for resolution of problems as needed.
  • Direct and coordinate activities, ensuring compliance with College, Conference, and NCAA policies and regulations.
  • Over 25 percent travel time required to attend SCAC and NCAA meetings, conferences, and training seminars, as well as traveling to support team competitions and recruiting.
  • Must be accessible and reachable by telephone or text message at times other than College business hours for the purpose of team member contact and/or recruiting purposes.
  • Must have access to mobile computing outside of the office for recruitment of student-athletes, scouting, travel arrangements, and budget management.
  • Maintain control of college-issued credit card and submit timely reimbursement requests with accompanying support documentation.
  • Work with the Director of Athletics to develop and monitor annual budgets.
  • Monitoring of Athletic facilities as assigned by Athletic Director
  • Participates in fundraising activities under the coordination and direction of the Director of Athletics.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time.
  • Oversees the maintenance of the swimming pool and assures pool is in compliance with regulations.
  • Monitors pool water chemistry through testing of water samples.
  • Performs minor repairs to mechanical and chemical systems.
  • Monitors and maintains pool filtration system.
  • Attendance at work, or scheduled coverage, is an essential function of this position.
  • Other related projects, duties and responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary.

  • Knowledge of United States Swimming and Diving rules and regulations.
  • Must be people-oriented individual, have good communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Must be well organized and self-motivated.

PREFERRED

  • Holds or has evidence of having held one of the following: lifeguard training, swim instructor or instructor training certification from a nationally recognized certifying body, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience coaching college swimming at the assistant or head coaching level.
