Taylor Deville '23

Taylor Deville is a performing arts veteran. As a young dancer, she developed a keen interest in the creative arts. While a student at Centenary, Taylor began building a career as a video editor, first as an intern and then as a freelance editor. After graduation, Taylor expanded her professional experience working on film sets as PA, AD, Script Supervisor, and Director.

Greta Simolke '22

Greta Simolke was laser-focused on developing a career in the film industry. As a Centenary student, she interned with Jane Owen PR and YAP Media solidifying her reputation as a smart, reliable production assistant. In those internships, Greta made the professional connections that launched her career with Fortitude International, producing films, television series, and minis.

Teri Johnson '22

As a Centenary student, Teri was a student-athlete who interned with the Mudbugs, Shreveport's NAHL team. Due to her impressive work as an intern, Teri quickly landed a full-time position with the Mudbugs. After graduation, she grew that experience into positions with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits -- first as Manager of Game Operations and Creative Services and then Director of Branding and Fan Experience. The Nashville Predators (NHL) took notice of Teri's work and promoted her to Senior Game Presentation Coordinator.

2017-2023

Mackenzie Newlan landed a marketing job with the Robinson Film Center during her senior year as a Communication major. After graduation, Mackenzie moved to Austin to take on the role of Engagement Specialist at the Morris & Dewett law firm.

Gyllian Gautreaux integrated her love of horses with her public relations and marketing aspirations to land an internship with Louisiana Downs Casino and Racetrack as a student. After graduation she started building her career as a Marketing and Event Coordinator at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino.

Taylor Bryson dreamed of working for Walt Disney World. While a student at Centenary, he chose Disney as a client every chance he got,  turning class projects into branding opportunities for the Mouse. Upon graduation, Taylor did just what he always said he would: landing a job at Disney.

Sabrina Handal earned a Master of Arts in Advertising from Southern Methodist University. She works as a social media manager and a brand and visual identity designer for Munich Store and Ayuni Catering as she builds her business. Sabrina prepared for her career at Centenary by interning with Centenary's office of Marketing & Communications and serving as the Public Relations Manager of Centenary's Activities Board.

Kayla Willie landed her dream job as Volunteer Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity after graduating from Centenary. She didn't even know it was her dream job when she landed it, but now she's sure. Kayla prepared for this happy happenstance by interning as a Communications Assistant at Common Ground Community and at the Robinson Film Center. She developed her leadership skills by serving as President for Centenary's Activities Board.

Leah Baer-Hinsey is building a marketing career at AmeriCorps VISTA where she works as a marketing coordinator. As a Centenary student, Leah developed her project management skills studying new media design.


Aly Velasquez
was hired as a Marketing Associate at Shreveport-Bossier's Convention and Tourist Bureau after interning there as a senior. As a Centenary student, Aly prepared for this opportunity by working as the Editor-in-Chief of The Conglomerate, Centenary's independent student newspaper.

 

Ammiee Brown After interning as a production assistant for Bayou Moon Entertainment while a student at Centenary, Ammiee began building her professional career by landing a position at Romph and Pou Agency as an Account Coordinator.

 

Chelsea Perry honed her design and social media chops at the Meadows Museum of Art while she was a student at Centenary. After graduation, she used that experience to jumpstart a career with Rebecca Hargrove Design while maintaining her own freelance practice.

Ari Wilson works as the Racial Justice Coordinator for the YWCA of Northwest Louisiana. They prepared for this career by combining Centenary's liberal arts education with new media design, taking full advantage of the power of interdisciplinary studies. As a student, Ari interned as a Programming Assistant for the North Louisiana Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and a Diversity Programmer.

2013 - 2016

Krista McKinney currently works an award-winning Broadcast Media Specialist at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington where she is putting her experience as a Global Marketing & Sales Digital Media Intern for The Walt Disney Company to work. We're proud to note that Krista won a bronze Telly at the 2016 Telly Awards for her online video work.

Taylor Hairston is now a Graphic Design Supervisor for Margaritaville. After graduation, Taylor jump-started his career as the Marketing Coordinator for SMG/Worldwide Entertainment & Convention Venue Management where he was charged with overseeing all branding activity. While a student at Centenary, Taylor interned with Fairfield Studios working on both film and audio production projects.

Nathan Yacovissi earned an MA in Kinesiology & Exercise Science from Dallas Baptist University and currently works as Sports Information Manager at Dallas University. While a student at Centenary, Nathan worked as Editor in Chief of Pandora Art, the campus' literary and arts magazine.

Aaron Martin has been building a career in marketing since he graduated from Centenary. Aaron walked off of the stage at graduation and into a job with Williams Creative Group as a Digital Media Specialist. He capitalized on that early career experience by transitioning into a position as a Search Engine Marketing Specialist at BBR Creative in his home town of Lafayette, LA and now works as a Project Manager for the award winning Peter Mayer agency in New Orleans.

Candace Metoyer is currently a Digital Communications Specialist at Centenary College of Louisiana (she's managing this very website!). As a Communication student, Candace interned with Crawford Design Group. Upon graduation, she landed a job as a creative specialist for NTN Media/The Natchitoches Times where she was quickly promoted to Creative Director. While at Centenary, Candace also volunteered as a graphic designer for Sante, Centenary's Living Learning Community dedicated to overcoming poverty and disease, and served as Assistant Director of the Big Event.

Emma Viskozki interned with and now works for Lamar Advertising Company, which she connected with as a result of a course project. As an Artist/Digital Marketing Administrator, Emma handles graphic design, social media management, and assists account executives on a daily basis. While at Centenary, Emma played softball, worked with Pandora Design, and was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity.

Paul Savage landed a job in television after graduation working for KSLA as a Digital Sales Specialist. He has since leveraged that start into a Graphic Design position with the Advocate Advertising Group. Paul honed his social media chops as a proud member of Centenary's Kappa Alpha chapter.

Emily Hamann was hired as Associate Editor for the American Rose Society just prior to her graduation. She is now building her professional career as Director of Social Media at the May Marketing Group. As a Centenary student, Emily prepared for this opportunity by interning with Photography by Scarlett and working as a Marketing and Communications Consultant for Tallulah Trading Co.

Audra Claire Mitchell interned at Gremillion & Pou Integrated Marketing as a senior and then landed a job as Media Assistant at this award-winning firm just prior to graduation (now Romph Pou Agency). While at Centenary, Audra worked as the Music Director for KSCL and interned as a Craft Services Assistant on major motion pictures such as Olympus Has Fallen, Dark Places, and Pitch Perfect 2.

Deavonté Hicks was hired as an intern at Eighty Three Creative in Dallas, Texas, an agency that offers a broad range of services including branding, digital and traditional marketing, and app development. Deavonté Hicks connected with Eighty Three Creative during a studio tour at the National Student Show & Conference that he attended as part of his COMM 451 Multimedia Design class. While at Centenary, Deavonté also served as head of Pandora Design, the student-led graphic design studio.

Elena Hibbs interned with the Quality Assurance Department at Moonbot Studios while a student and then landed a job as a Production Assistant with that very same Academy Award winning studio during her final semester at Centenary. Elena also served as Station Manager for KSCL and as a designer for Le Tintamarre while a student at Centenary. Today, Elena is Lead Graphic Designer at Goodlife Clothing in NYC.

Laurie Priftis interned with Richards Creative as a student and immediately parlayed her expertise into a position as a Digital Media Specialist for Williams Creative Group upon graduation. She is currently the Director of Marketing and Communications at the LSU Health Sciences Foundation. While at Centenary, Laurie was an impressive student-athlete who also won a silver ADDY award in 2015 for her design work.

 

2009 - 2012

Mindy McKoin earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film & Television from Loyola Marymount University and now works on popular television series such as Silicon Valley and The Last Ship. While at Centenary, Mindy interned as a Production Assistant for Millennium Films and as a sports broadcaster for ESPN at the Independence Bowl.

Kendall Payne earned a Master of Arts degree in Nonprofit Management from Louisiana State University Shreveport and currently works as a Marketing Specialist at Enterprise Computing Services LLC. After graduation from
Centenary, Kendall worked as the Marketing Coordinator for the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana.

Dana Ball earned an MA in Arts & Technology from the University of Texas at Dallas and is Communication Director for First Baptist Richardson of Richardson, TX. While at Centenary, Dana worked as layout editor for the Conglomerate newspaper and was awarded a Faculty-Student Summer Research Grant for her work in digital FX.

Anna Andreen is Art Director at VCU Brandcenter in Richmond, VA. She vaulted into this position after landing a job as Project Coordinator for the Graphics Group just after graduation. As a student, Anna worked as layout editor for Pandora Art and as a graphic designer for Chi Omega Fraternity.

Samantha Aarstad Martin, Ph.D, LPC earned her doctorate degree in Counseling-Psychology at Louisiana Tech University. Upon graduation as a Communication major, Sam decided to pursue a career in counseling psychology. She was immediately accepted into the Master of Science program in Counseling Psychology at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. While at Centenary, Sam was a member of Chi Omega.

Marquette LaForest is an Internet Marketing Associate at Sunrise Medical in Denver. As a Centenary student, Marquette worked as Station Manager for KSCL radio and as a writer for the Conglomerate news. He interned with Williams Creative Group and landed a job with this award-winning firm upon graduation.

Bonnie Cook just wrapped work as a production assistant on X-Men: Dark Phoenix as she completes requirements for admission to the Directors Guild of America (DGA). Bonnie ran cross-country track for Centenary while a student.

Randy Schmidt works as a product photographer for Michael Clement in New Orleans. As a Communication student, Randy interned with Straight A's Productions and worked in sports broadcasting as a camera operator for the Mudbugs.

 

2006 - 2008

Sara Hebert earned a Master of Arts degree from the University of Denver and developed her chops as Marketing Director for Academy Award-winning Moonbot Studios. Today, Sara works as Community Director at Night School Studio. She is also a producer and host of All Y'all Media. As a student at Centenary, Sara worked as Station Manager for KSCL 91.3 FM and worked as a Film Camp Instructor for Shreveport's Renzi Center for Education and Art.

Sean Hennigan earned an MA in Media Studies at the UT Austin and now works as a Communication Specialist at Abilene Christian University. Sean double-majored in Communication and Religious Studies at Centenary and has built a solid career that productively leverages his interdisciplinary interests.

Cameron King honed his chops managing post-production and story editing for Third Story Films. He has worked with brands such as Chrysler, Google, and The Olympics. Cameron used these experiences to build his own video production and brand management company. As a student, Cameron worked as a preditor for Centenary parlaying that experience into a position as an editor and videographer for KTBS news -- all prior to graduation.

Stephani Kyle is Marketing and Business Strategist for the Skylark Agency in Dallas/Fort Worth where she executes strategic results-driven marketing plans for national brands. Stephanie built her career working up through the ranks with Centenary alumni at ReachLocal. While a student at Centenary, Stephanie was a student-athlete (swimmer), a member of Chi Omega, Maroon Jacket, and Editor-in-Chief of El Centenario.

Ashley Moss earned an MA in Critical Media Studies at the University of Arizona and now works in higher education administration as the Registrar at Aspen University in Denver. As a Centenary student, Ashley was a member of Centenary Film Society, Alpha Chi, and Phi Alpha Theta.

Stephanie Scanlon has built an impressive career with Reach Local in Dallas/Fort Worth. Now the Director of Digital Marketing Services for Gannett/USA TODAY NETWORK, Stephanie started out as Sales Support Analyst/Supervisor at ReachLocal where she was steadily promoted to the level of director. While at Centenary, Stephanie was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa -- The National Leadership Honor Society, an experience that provided superior preparation for her professional aspirations.

Curt Youngblood earned a Master of Arts degree in Photojournalism from UT Austin and is now owner/photographer at Curt Youngblood Photography. Curt built his career as a photojournalist at a variety of regional newspapers in Arkansas and Texas and now helps prepare other Centenary students as an adjunct photography instructor. As a student himself, Curt interned with The Shreveport Times while double majoring in Communication and Sociology.

Lauren Brown earned a Master of Arts in Animation & Digital Art from University of Southern California and worked as an Assistant Puppet Wrangler at LAIKA, Inc., a Los Angeles animation studio. Now, she teaches animation and communication media at Bossier Parish Community College. While at Centenary, Lauren interned with Howdy Inc. (which is now Moonbot Studios) and Reel FX. She also worked as Art Editor for Pandora and volunteered as a disc jockey at KSCL.

Daniel Kersting plunged into the NYC film scene after graduation and has steadily built a career in the film industry in the art department as a production designer, set designer, and set decorator. Daniel is currently working on the breakout show The Good Fight. He got his start as a student at Centenary where he interned with the production department on Factory Girl and successfully produced a full scale set design for his honors project. Daniel, too, was awarded a Faculty-Student Research Grant for his work as a Production Assistant and Cinematographer on the film Suspended Sediment.
