Staff Spotlight: Debbie Bury

Hello! I am Debbie Bury, Centenary’s Director of Career Development and Internships. I joined Centenary College in August of 2021. I have lived in Shreveport since 2015. I earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi, and my Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Scranton.

I love all things careers! I enjoy teaching the Careers Strategies class, working with students, and helping them navigate and prepare for the next steps after graduation. It is also a privilege to work with our alumni as they continue on their career journey, helping with resume revisions, cover letter tips, and accessing Handshake, the mobile job search app connecting students and alumni to over 550K+ employers. With social media being a major influence in our world today, my office can also offer tips to enhance your LinkedIn profile.

As our students approach graduation, many begin to think about internships that can give them “real world” experience. Our alumni members have been incredibly generous in helping our students find meaningful positions in their field of interest. Many of those internships have turned into full-time employment.
