What is Degree Works?
Degree Works is an online degree audit program and academic advising tool designed to assist students and advisors in reviewing degree progress. A web-based program, Degree Works looks at the requirements listed in the college catalog and easily identifies courses that have been completed and what courses are still needed in order to fulfill degree requirements. The result is an easy-to-read evaluation (audit) formatted to mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
How It Works
Degree Works is integrated with our Banner student information system to provide powerful academic planning tools and real-time advising capabilities, giving students meaningful and consistent direction and providing faculty and advisors with up-to-date curriculum information.
Degree Works for students:
- Clearly identifies the requirements needed to complete a degree
- Allows students to view courses and GPA
- Offers a GPA calculator
- Shows how coursework could be applied towards another major using the What If option
- Helps map out a multi-semester plan for meeting academic goals
- Allows direct access to multiple related services and advice through hyperlinks to the Registrar’s Office forms and graduation application
Degree Works for advisors:
- Eliminates the manual degree plan requirement templates
- Offers the advisor the opportunity to discuss “what if” scenarios for students interested in other programs
- Supports more timely degree certification
- Facilitates the course selection process to free up more time for more personalized advising
Things to Remember
- Always verify that your information is correct in the header block and in the body of your degree audit.
- Degree Works does NOT replace your advisor! You and your advisor can use Degree Works together to make sure your college career is a success.
- If any information is incorrect or missing, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
What Degree Works Shows
Degree Works provides an electronic audit of your progress toward a specific degree. The audit will report and track:
- Courses and credit hours earned as applied toward your degree program
- Catalog requirements in effect when you choose a major, minor, or concentration
- All requirements necessary to receive a specific degree
- Transfer, AP, IB, and CLEP credits used to satisfy degree requirements
- Courses for which you are currently registered (listed as in-progress or 'IP')
- Courses that do not apply to specific degree requirements, but do apply toward overall earned hours and cumulative GPA
