Donor profile: James and Jean Goins
Alumni James ‘61 and Jean ‘63 Goins are longtime donors and committed advocates for Centenary. Their love of the College extended to all three of their children, Miriam, Marcy, and Mark, who also graduated from Centenary. Both James and Jean have continued to be involved and supportive in their service to Centenary, having served on the Centenary Alumni Board and chaired class reunions and annual Homecoming events. In addition, James and Jean have supported the College through the Goins Family Endowed Scholarship and annual scholarship gifts.
James and Jean both sang in the Centenary Choir and continue to support the organization. Their passion for singing has continued, as both are active in Noel Methodist Church as volunteers and members of the church choir.
A retired banker, James is active in the community through the Lions Club, and serves on the boards of the Woolworth Foundation and Grayson Foundation. Both James and Jean were honored by Centenary this year with the 2019 George D. Nelson, Sr. Lifetime Service Award as a way to recognize their volunteer service to the College.
These two exemplify what it means to be a Centenary Lady and Gent by giving back their time, talent, and treasure to the community and to the College.
