Annual Easter Sunrise Service at Centenary College returns on April 4

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary’s newly-renovated Hargrove Memorial Amphitheater (the Shell) will be the setting for the return of the College’s Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 4. The service begins at 6:00 a.m. and is free and open to the public, the first public event at Centenary since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The event will also be livestreamed on Centenary’s Facebook page.

All visitors must strictly adhere to Centenary’s community safety guidelines while on campus, including wearing a mask, observing social distancing, and hand washing/sanitizing. Full guidelines are available at centenary.edu/covid19.

“We are so excited to invite everyone back to Centenary College for the return of our traditional Easter Sunrise Service in the newly renovated Hargrove Memorial Amphitheater,” said Rev. Lindy Broderick, chaplain at Centenary. “This event takes on special significance this year as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ, it is also symbolic of the beginning of our long-awaited reemergence from a pandemic. We hope you can join us as the sun rises on Easter morning!”

Centenary College Choir alumni from the Class of 2020, who missed the chance to perform last year, are invited to join the current choir members to perform at this year’s Sunrise Service. Class of 2020 alumni should contact Centenary College Choir director David Hobson at dhobson@centenary.edu for more details.
