Centenary announces $500,000 matching gift as part of capital campaign
SHREVEPORT, LA — Dr. Scott Cassingham and Dr. Pam McPherson ’82 have pledged a $500,000 matching gift for the creation of the new Dr. Brad and Kay McPherson Endowed Chair in Biology at Centenary College and the naming of the biology department after Brad and Kay McPherson.
The gift was announced on Friday, October 25, at the “Toasting the Sciences” fundraising event held at Mickle Hall, the home of Centenary’s School of Health Sciences. Guests enjoyed a four-course dinner and wine pairing created by sommelier Pamela Brown and had the opportunity to tour Mickle Hall, which is scheduled to undergo a $20 million renovation as part of Centenary’s capital campaign, Forward: The Campaign for Our Third Century. The event highlighting Centenary’s science programs and facilities was held during the College’s 2024 Homecoming week.
“We are so grateful to Scott and Pam for their generous commitment in helping to establish the Dr. Brad and Kay McPherson Endowed Chair and Biology and the Dr. Brad and Kay McPherson Department of Biology,” said Fred Landry, vice president for development. “It is a fitting tribute to Brad’s long and successful tenure at the College and Brad and Kay’s love and support of Centenary for over fifty years.”
To complete the $1,000,000 funding needed to fully establish the new chair, alumni and friends of the College are encouraged to go online at centenary.edu/give to make their gift, or send checks made out to “Centenary-McPherson Chair” to Centenary College, 2911 Centenary Boulevard, Shreveport, LA, 71104.
