Centenary College begins major construction project; new housing for students by Fall ‘25

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College’s Board of Trustees recently approved a major construction project to create a new college-owned, off-campus housing complex located behind the Centenary Square building on Kings Highway. The development has been named “Bicentennial Village” to honor the yearlong celebration of the College’s 200th anniversary and will be available to students beginning in Fall 2025.
“As Centenary begins its third century, we are very excited to offer our students a new option for housing,” said Dr. Christopher L. Holoman, Centenary College President. “The benefits of a residential college experience have been demonstrated repeatedly and over many years. It is at the core of Centenary’s identity. These new units will combine an independent, townhouse-like setting with easy access to all the resources and activities on campus.”
The new complex will house a total of 84 students in four three-story buildings surrounding a shared plaza. Each floor is organized as a self-contained six-bedroom house with five single bedrooms, one double bedroom, three bathrooms, a private patio or balcony, and a large shared living space. Each floor will have its own washer and dryer, full-sized appliances in the kitchen, and a small additional refrigerator in each bedroom. The first floor of each building will be fully accessible to students who use wheelchairs or have mobility differences. As a result, Centenary will more than triple its stock of fully ADA-accessible housing.
Construction on “Bicentennial Village” has already begun, and students will have the option to sign up for rooms in the new complex during Room Preference Night in March. The project is being managed by Shreveport-based Vintage Realty with architectural design by Pecot and Company from Lafayette, Louisiana.
