Centenary College Choir embarks on tour of Great Britain

Choir tour participants enjoy Edinburgh's Royal Mile, the heart of Scotland's historic capital.

SHREVEPORT, LA — Ending its 75th Anniversary year with a flourish, the Centenary College Choir began an 11 day tour to Scotland, Northern Wales, and England last week.  Joining the 37 voice choir are 27 alumni, staff, family and friends, providing a rich intergenerational experience.

“One of the marks of the Choir’s holistic educational agenda has always been ‘to travel and learn from the world in which we live,’” says Dr. David Hobson, director.  “These experiences stay with the students their entire lives, and raise the bar for their global perspective and musical pursuits.”

The Choir officially celebrated its birthday this past fall with a grand reunion concert of well over 300 singers, providing the musical platform for the Great Britain touring choir, bolstered by several alumni.   The tour consists of six performance engagements over 11 days, which includes concerts at famed Canterbury Cathedral and Wesley Chapel in the London stint of the tour. Not only a singing venture, the group will experience the wonderful highlights of the Scottish highlands and historic Edinburgh, the beautiful scenery of Northern Wales, and many iconic sites in the London area.

Having made close to 40 public engagements throughout the Ark-La-Tex during this landmark 2016-2017 season, the Choir will have a short turnaround before it welcomes new members and begins its annual program with a lengthy camp in August.
