Centenary College’s Meadows Museum plans fall exhibition schedule
SHREVEPORT, LA — The Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College will host six exhibitions during the fall of 2022, featuring works by regional and national artists as well as Centenary alumni and current students.
Four exhibitions –Shared Visions by Aj Smith and Marjorie Williams-Smith; Ode to East Texas: The Long Way Home by Lee Jamison ’79; Wisdom of the Truth by Cesar Garcia; and Objectified by Emma Foster ’25 - will open to the public on August 29. Objectified, which will be housed in the Museum’s Project Space gallery, will close on September 23. The remaining three exhibitions will run through December 3.
The Project Space gallery will feature two additional exhibitions in the fall semester. Notes on String Theory by Candace Hicks will open on September 27 and run through October 28, while Emily Grant ’22 will present her senior exhibition, Side Affects, from November 1 through December 3. The Project Space gallery will rotate monthly throughout the academic year and will feature a variety of themes including the objectification of women, the potential held in a blank piece of paper, and mental health.
A preview reception featuring the first four exhibitions will be held on August 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
“Between Smith and Williams-Smith's realistic drawings, Jamison's impressionist paintings, and Garcia's abstract works, this fall's exhibitions will have something for everyone,” said Alissa Klaus, director of the Meadows Museum. “Visitors will also enjoy a selection of pieces from our permanent collection displayed within Jamison's exhibition.”
The fall 2022 exhibition lineup showcases a variety of media and techniques, including sketches, mixed media, interactive sculptures, and more. For more information on the individual exhibitions, visit themeadowsmuseum.com/current-exhibitions.
