Centenary Flute Ensemble to perform on April 6

The Centenary Flute Ensemble presents a concert on April 6th at 7:00PM in Anderson Auditorium at Centenary College’s Hurley School of Music. It is free and open to the public.
The flute choir is an ensemble of flutists that play different sizes of flutes, giving out a homogenous, wonderful rich sound. The flute family ranges from the small high-pitched piccolo to the low, rich sounding contrabass flute.
The Centenary Flute Ensemble includes many accomplished flutists from the community and uses the piccolo, ten regular sized flutes, two alto flutes and a bass flute. Within the ensemble are Centenary graduate George Hancock (’88), current student Feliz Kraus, biology professor and alumnae Dr. Rebecca Murphy (‘06), and Hurley School of Music flute instructor Sally Horak, who is also the director of the ensemble.
“The flute ensemble is a magical sonic treat that is prized by composers and both a joy to see and hear in its variety and blended sonority,” she said.
The concert ranges from classics by Mozart and Verdi to Cuban inspired dance music and the magical “Of Wizards and Witches.”
