Centenary included in new $1 million scholarship initiative from Brookshire Grocery Co.
SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College is one of more than 40 colleges and universities in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas where students will benefit from a new $1 million scholarship initiative announced recently by the Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC). The “Focus on the Future” scholarship fund is an effort to reinvest in the future of the communities served by BGC and is a demonstration of the company’s commitment to education.
“We are very excited to launch a lasting program which will help thousands of students achieve their dreams for years to come,” said Brad Brookshire, Chairman and CEO for Brookshire Grocery Co., in a press release. “We support our local communities and value education which is one of our top philanthropic efforts. So many families and individuals have been financially impacted by the pandemic. We are proud to be able to help those aspiring towards their dreams.”
According to the press release from BGC, the “Focus on the Future” program is designed to identify students with financial need who have also demonstrated determination, leadership, and academic achievement. The scholarship will provide tuition assistance to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in the participating institutions starting in fall 2021. Most of the scholarships established by the program will be annual in nature.
“Brookshire’s investment in the life of the College through this endowed scholarship at Centenary will directly impact opportunities for students to benefit from the superior liberal arts education that Centenary provides,” said Fred Landry, vice president for development. “We are so grateful for their partnership in helping to advance the mission of the College.”
