Centenary names new director of alumni & family relations
SHREVEPORT, LA — Katie Chopin ’16 will join her alma mater as the director of alumni and family relations beginning October 1. Chopin served as recruitment and event coordinator for Centenary’s Office of Admission from 2016 to 2018 and is returning to the College after working as marketing and project manager for a local graphic design firm.
“I am very excited to be the new Director of Alumni & Family Relations,” says Chopin. “Centenary holds a special place in my heart and I'm glad to be back on campus. I look forward to connecting with all of our alumni and our current families this fall.”
Chopin, a native of Shreveport, earned a bachelor of arts in economics with a minor in business administration at Centenary. As a student, she worked as a Student Ambassador in the Office of Admission and as an intern with the Department of Development, giving her a wide variety of experience across the College. She was also active in Greek life as a member in and officer of Chi Omega Fraternity and was selected for the Maroon Jackets senior honor society. Chopin was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society; Omicron Delta Epsilon, the national economics honors society; and Order of Omega, a national honor society recognizing leadership by students participating in Greek life.
Chopin will take over the position from Saige Wilhite Solomon ’05, who has served Centenary for 13 years.
“We are excited about Katie building on the great work done by our outgoing alumni and family relations director, Saige Solomon,” says Fred Landry, vice president for development at Centenary. “She will be a great addition to the development team and I look forward to her sharing her expertise in engaging our alumni in the life of the College.”
