enary College hosts family-friendly Magale Fest on March 29

SHREVEPORT, LA — Centenary College is celebrating libraries and learning in a fun way with Magale Fest 2025. The free family-friendly festival will be Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

“Growing Together” is the festival’s theme, and it is intended to celebrate libraries as hubs for lifelong learning and community building. The fest promises many festive activities like live sing-alongs, face painting, and swapping books.

“Centenary is Shreveport-Bossier's college, and Magale Library is an ideal place for Centenary and the greater community to come together to celebrate some of the things that make our community great,” said Patrick Morgan, Magale Library director. “We have some fantastic community partners and Centenary-based groups joining us for our second annual Magale Fest, and this year's installment features a wider variety of food, drink, and activities perfect for all ages.”

A student-led reading corner will feature a bean bag pit and cover a variety of multicultural children’s picture books and selections from Dr. Seuss, Shell Silverstein, Ezra Jack Keats, and other well-known children’s authors.

Walter B Jacobs Wildlife Refuge will bring live animals. The Hurley School of Music will have its version of a “petting zoo” by allowing people to try out different instruments.

It is free to attend the event.  Food and drinks will be available for purchase from food trucks including Roadrunner Foods, Boba Express, Pearlz BBQ, Ragin’ Cajun, Down South Dawgs, and Heaven Repicci's Italian Ice.

Magale Fest is sponsored by JF Magale Memorial Library and the Centenary Learning Commons. For more information contact Patrick Morgan at 318.869.5171 or at pmorgan@centenary.edu.
