National residence hall group taps Centenary leader for regional role

Centenary College Resident Life and Student Conduct director Katherine Shamburger has been named a regional advisor by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH). The association has eight regions. Centenary falls in the southwest region that includes Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mexico.
As regional advisor, Shamburger will be a member of NACURH leadership and serve for two years. She will advise a nine-member board made up of students across the region. NACURH is designed to empower, motivate, and equip residence hall leaders with skills and resources to impact their campus communities in a positive way.
At Centenary, Shamburger has advised the Residence Hall Association (RHA) since 2020. She also oversees the National Residence Hall Honorary, which is an honor society. Under her leadership, Centenary has earned regional and national awards.
At the national NACURH conference last year, Shamburger and Centenary’s RHA were recognized as a top ten program for “How to Give your Organization Staying Power: Strategies for Recruitment and Retention.” Centenary also won two prestigious awards: “2024 RHA Building Block of the Year” and the “2024 NRHH Cornerstone Award.”
