Meet the Associate Vice President for Innovative Learning and Inclusive Excellence

Dr. Latoya Pierce currently serves as the Associate Vice President for Innovative Learning and Inclusive Excellence at Centenary College of Louisiana. Dr. Pierce has twenty years of experience in higher education, both as a faculty member and administrator. She has served as a program director, a department chair, executive director, and interim dean for a school of education prior to her arrival at Centenary. During her time in academic leadership, Dr. Pierce developed her expertise in online learning, which spans more than a decade. She has taught online graduate courses for a number of institutions with various learning management systems. Additionally, Dr. Pierce has managed a large online program in Counselor Education. During her tenure in this program, she helped move the program’s accreditation status from interim to full accreditation, as well as restructure the program to run more efficiently and best serve the needs of students. Dr. Pierce has served on countless institutional committees during her career, including sole expeditor for an Institutional Review Board, officer positions in Faculty Senate, and a Commission Member of the Atlantic-10 Athletic Conference Committee on Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. She has chaired and served on multiple dissertations, and is actively serving on two local boards focused on advocacy, the arts, and community engagement. Dr. Pierce continues to see clients as a licensed professional counselor.
